Cleanse Me

Psalm 51:2-3
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.

A rebel – in defiance of the King

A transgressor in so many things

Falling short of all that’s right

Nothing hidden from his sight

Yet, kindness like a river flows

Great faithfulness his people know

Fallen children need a father’s love

He brings cleansing from above

Blessed is the one who is forgiven

Grace and mercy flow from heaven

Sin’s strong stain by blood made pure

Condemnation is no more

Come to Him who cleanses the heart

Joy He renews in the inward part

Guilt and sin He takes away

Christ turns darkness into day

On September 10, 1970 I came to understand the great love of God for me, a sinner and a rebel. That evening I received God’s forgiveness and a new life through Jesus Christ, who died in my place and rose again to offer forgiveness and new life. I have been senior pastor for over 30 years planting two churches in Buckingham, PA and Queens, NY and serving two other churches in Brooklyn, NY and Roslyn, PA. I am currently the lead pastor at Grace Church of Philly.

  1. John Davis!
Wonderful to see you are still serving after all these years!
Seems so long ago that we met at OBBC on Pine Run Rd. I still remember the crunching sound my fingers made when we shook hands.
Very much defeated by legalism, I’ve found peace in simple service, random acts of kindness, and a genuine interest in God’s Word.
I get to South Philly about once a year to see my mom. I’ll be visiting Grace Church next time I’m there.
Hope your family is well. Dawn is as beautiful as she was 30 years ago!
    Hope to here from you!
    Chris G.
