At the beginning of this New Year, I am asking all of those associated with Grace Church of Philly to reflect often on Psalm 67 and 2 Corinthians 9:8 and to consider memorizing these passages. Psalm 67:1-7  May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah  2 that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.  3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!  4 Let the nations be glad and sing......

Missional Grace The World Needs Grace Colossians 4:2-6 2 ¶ Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison– 4 that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. 5 ¶ Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt,......

The Gospel and Transformation 2 Corinthians 3:7-18 7 ¶ Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9 For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory. 10 Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory......

During our pre-launch gatherings, I have been speaking about the priority of the gospel in the life of a believer and in the life of the church. Keeping the gospel central was Paul’s concern, as he wrote the book of Galatians. The gospel foundation of the Galatian churches was being undermined as others intermingled human effort with grace. Paul’s message to the church and false teachers is that a non-grace gospel is a non-gospel. The good news of the gospel is that Christ faithfully lived the life that I have failed to......

Paul, said, ‘the gospel is of first importance’ in the church (1 Cor 15:3-4). The gospel defines how we live out our ultimate purpose in life which is to glorify God in all things. In my early experience as a student and pastor, I was taught two alternative purposes for the world and for what drives the Christian life. I was taught that history has either a soteriological purposes (to redeem sinners) or a doxological purpose (to bring glory to God). Consequently on the practical level, believers have either a soteriological purpose......
